Insulin Pump

An insulin pump is an alternative for people with diabetes who are treated with intensified insulin therapy and test their blood glucose levels on a regular basis.

An insulin pump replaces the need for a syringe or a pen. The pump is worn on the exterior of your body, often on a belt. It is connected to the body via a thin tube, called an infusion set, which continuously delivers a fast rapid acting insulin analogue into the body according to the body's needs. The insulin needed at mealtimes is added at the push of a button.
In this way the pump offers insulin delivery which closely mimics the normal insulin secretion of the pancreas.
